Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Cost
Hospital - $15,925
$15,925 paid to the hospital by money order or cashiers check at least 2 days before the date of surgery. This usually covers an uncomplicated hospitalization. If hospital charges exceed $50,000 the patient will be responsible for 50% of the charges over $50,000 in addition to the initial charge. If diagnostic tests are necessary (radiology, pathology) there may be physician fees related to interpretation of the tests.
Anesthesia - $1,950 paid at least 2 days before the surgery.
Surgeon’s fee - $7,500 paid on the day your surgery is scheduled.
The usual uncomplicated gastric bypass therefore requires an initial payment of $25,375 prior to surgery.
Laparoscopic Gastric Banding Cost
Hospital - $17,275
$17,275 paid to the hospital by money order or cashiers check at least 2 days before the date of surgery. This usually covers an uncomplicated hospitalization. If hospital charges exceed $50,000 the patient will be responsible for 50% of the charges over $50,000 in addition to the initial charge.
